 2:26 PM 19/07/2008 - Recent successes

Things have been going pretty well for me recently. I am now finished my time with half days on the phones and have been in the QA Department for over a month. I am enjoying it quite a bit. I don't any longer feel like I don't want to go to work (unless I'm just being lazy). I find it neat how when you have a job position that actually has goals and you can see the end of a project and think about it's final result, you feel a lot happier than in a position that's just doing the same thing every day. When I was in the call centre, there was no big goal to look forward to completing, it was just show up and do the job and tomorrow you start all over again.

I won an award last Thursday also! It was for an FAQ document that I created to help out the Tec Support team... I logged every unique call that I had since I got the position and put it in a Q&A format. I managed to fit it into one single HTML document with no attaching files and it ended up looking pretty good as well as being very informative! I didn't know how useful it would be actually... people seem to be very happy with it. I do feel bad though that I can't keep working on it now that I'm not on the team... But I was given a pretty awesome award with a compass on top (it's all about heading north) with my name on it. I was quite surprised!

Work is also putting on a challenge where you get to make a website with the new website maker that they just bought. I think it will be quite fun! I was thinking of taking the website that I started to make for A.J's sister and just develop on that idea... Only thing is the QA site isn't working right now! I was excited to get started this weekend but no go...

I actually just got back from West Ed Mall. I went then specifically for two shops: The British Import Shop (British baked beans here I come!) and the Sanrio store. In the Sanrio store I bought this Tanorkimua bag that I find the perfect size for work:

There is actually a lot of festivals going on right now in the city. There is Capital Ex (a bunch of rides that I don't really care that much about) and The Taste of Edmonton (which is a 5 min bus ride from me). I want to go and get some awesome food from the Taste of Edmonton sometime this week before it's over. There is the Heritage Festival coming up in August also which I am really looking forward to. I have been to it every year since I've been in Canada and always love it. It's comprised of loads of tents all representing different cultures. Last year they introduced the English tent too so I can stock up on some English sweets while I'm there.
