8:47 PM 10/05/2008 - Sudoku, A Prospective Job And An Upcoming Holiday

I have developed an interest in Sudoku recently. It started when I first began reading the daily newspapers in the city on my way to work. At the back of almost every newspaper there would be a sudoku puzzle. One day I decided to give it a try, and as I got better at it I found some on the internet and printed them off at work. Now I frequently have a difficult sudoku puzzle on my desk at work that I am working on inbetween calls with my next door friend. They are very addictive once you've played a few!

I applied for a job as a QA Tester at work a few weeks ago. I got through to the testing stage where I had to go in a room with 8 other candidates and write a Test Plan for the Windows Calculator. I don't think of any of us had done that before. The night before I did a Google search for Test Plans so that I had a good idea of what one looks like and I'm glad that I did! We only had an hour to write the thing and I somehow managed to write up 3 pages of text in that short length of time, covering almost everything on the example Test Plans that I had seen (though in very basic form of course). I'm pretty confident that I did well. There was some confusion after the test however about what exactly what we were supposed to do... the e-mail invite said a Test Plan, the sheet that we got when we got in the room said Test Plan, but others seemed to have created a Test CASE which is quite different. Now I'm wondering if both phrases can be interchangeable at the work place but you are just supposed to know what they're talking about... or if others really did not do what was asked of and did not research the meaning of a Test Plan. Oh well, we shall see when I know if I get an interview ro next week before my trip to England!

Talking of England, it's only a week until we go and we're both very excited. We have almost everything sorted. Just one week of work to go, and maybe I'll have that interview in it. Work was quiet but then it was picking up again the last few days because of some promotional stuff on Quickbooks. I am very glad to be having this time off and feel that it's well deserved as I have pretty much been working my ass off for the last 4 to 5 months. We are actually visiting Scotland for a week, then England for the next week, so it shall be a nice change. We are leaving for Calgary airport to arrive in Manchester next weekend!
