With the new Quickbooks 2008 product coming out there's a lot of calls coming to the call centre for every department. When I was first on the phones there could be hours where I did not get a single call and I would just research and relax, but now I'm lucky if I get 10 seconds! It sure does take a lot out of me - I am so exhausted by the end of the day. I feel like I'm a fuddy duddy when I'm this tired at the end of the work day! Of course it doesn't help having such a long commute time. Having to sit on a bus for 1 1/2hrs isn't really that relaxing. With work being so frantic, I find it is important to keep the right mind set. I had some of the back-to-work blues when I was back after the days off around the holiday season. I never knew that having that time off work and spending it with family then having to go back to your every day work life can make someone depressed. I didn't feel like that for long though. After a week or so I decided to just kick myself and be happy. What's the point in being depressed anyway? It doesn't get you anywhere... in fact it makes things go backwards rather than forwards. With a better attitude towards work I feel that I am happier and I work more confidently. I have found quite a few solutions to problems that I am quite proud of. A couple of them I thought others may come across, so I sent out a couple of mass e-mails to the team and also let my manager know about the problems and easy solutions. The great thing about my workplace is that I do honestly feel appreciated when I put such effort into something that can not only benefit myself but everyone on the team. Receiving recognition for such a thing is very rewarding and pushes me to keep producing. I have also had some good stats recently that made me happy. They are based on a survey that the customer takes after the call about the service that they received. So far I have won a total of $30 in Tim Hortons gift certificates, which is pretty good! Today I went out with A.J. and his Mum and we stopped off on the way home at a Tim Horton's drive through where I treated us to some drinks and snacks. It feels quite rewarding spending vouchers that I have worked hard for - no matter how small the amount may be. I was wondering if anyone reading this blog has had or is having a bit of the winter back-to-work blues. Please tell me any stories or opinions you may have on this matter, I would find it quite interesting to read! Past diary entries for 2007 have been removed to make way for the new 2008 year! |
