4:32 PM 28/04/2009 - Marriage License, 24 DVDs And A New Cage For Chummy

A.J. and I went to get our marriage license for June today. We spent about 15 minutes walking around downtown trying to find the place only to find out that the place where we first went to was the correct one. (It had no sign saying that it was the Service Bureau and the address was completely different to what we had). It took about 15 minutes to get the whole thing processed and we left with a marriage license and $95 less! I did not think that it would be that expensive... I was thinking around $30. A.J. reminded me though that if it costs a couple of thousand dollars to process my permanent residence application then it will cost atleast around $100 for a 15 minute marriage license interview. Yay Government!

While we were out getting the marriage license, we popped into HMV and saw that they were selling all of the seasons of 24 for $20 to $30! We quickly purchased seasons 2 to 6 before they could mark them up again. They are usually $50 to $60 each (even starting from season 1) and they put them down a little around Christmas. We purchased season 1 around that time and decided to slowly purchase the other seasons, but then a week later they were back up to $50 minimum. You can see why we were so hasty to purchase them at their $20 to $30 price today! I really wonder if they will be back up in price next week.

Chummy (our hamster) has been hanging off the ceiling of her cage lately so we decided to give her a different lid to the bin that she is in. A.J took a new lid and cut two tight holes for the two tubes to go in at the top. He then cut out a rectangle and covered it with wire mesh, secured with nuts and bolts. It looks cleaner now and I honestly do not see how she could possibly make so much noise and/or escape through gnawing the wiring anymore. I hope that she is a happy hamster in her "new" cage. It is actually a lot more sturdy now that the lid is mostly plastic.

9:55 AM 10/04/2009 - Wii Fit, Work Projects, and Chummy getting loose!

Yay it's a long weekend! We get Good Friday off here in Canada. I know that in the UK some places get Good Friday and Easter Monday off and some just Easter Monday. Wish I got Monday off too! I wanted to go to the chuch that we're getting married at for an Easter service but I'm not sure if we're going to be able to. We can't get there ourselves without it taking over an hour (I would predict 1 1/2 hrs being realistic),so we asked AJ's Mum to take us but she said no. I don't know why, she never gives straight answers and always strings you along then gives you an answer eventually with no reason attached. I thought she might have enjoyed it because she's always saying how she wants to go to Church. Anyway! Maybe AJ's Dad can take us on the way to their place (we're going there for the afternoon). We shall see. If we don't get to go then I've got to talk to the Minister anyway to book another meeting about the Wedding!

I managed to get my hands on a copy of Wii Fit a couple of weeks ago. It was on our weekly trip to the supermarket. I can't believe that they had them there and it's impossible to find absolutely anywhere else (except eBay for a huge markup). I have been playing it quite a lot. It's amazing how it can work up quite a sweat! EA is also coming up with a fitness game that I am looking forward to in the future (it uses the Balance board that Wii Fit comes with).

I'm on a new project at work and have kind of morphed into a position of QA Lead on a certain section. I'm not actually the QA Lead on paper but the work that I'm doing is pretty close. It feels good to have such responsibilities and that much of an impact on a project.

Chummy (our hamster) got out of her cage this week. I woke up and saw something on the kitchen floor. There were no lights on at the time so it was just a shadow. I was so scared that it was a rat! I turned the light on though and saw Chummy's cute face and new that it was her. She ran right under the fridge though and it took AJ and I about 20 mins to get her out. Eventually we enticed her with pieces of strawberry and blocked the space behind her as she walked slowly out from the side of the fridge. Of course her cheeks were full of disgusting things that she had found from under the fridge and I waited for her to take them out then completely cleaned out her bedroom. That's the first time she has gotten out, she is trying to live like her ancestors I think...
